The role of Lead Cashier at Ulta Beauty is vital to the guest experience and operational excellence. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of guest transactions and upholding high standards of cashwrap cleanliness and overall aesthetics. The Lead Cashier supports the store leadership by assisting in cashier training, cross-training associates, and driving performance in sales, guest experience, and loyalty program results. This role requires a proactive, collaborative approach combined with leadership skills to engage and influence associates and guests positively.

The Lead Cashier's responsibilities go beyond typical cashier duties by including tasks such as opening and closing registers, conducting associate exit inspections, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is passionate about guest service, excellent at processing transactions, and focused on fostering a welcoming, guest-friendly environment by personally engaging with each visitor and recommending relevant products and services. The Lead Cashier also plays a key role in promoting Ulta Beauty's loyalty programs and credit products, contributing directly to store performance metrics.

This role demands flexibility, as work schedules include evenings, weekends, holidays, and days, and requires the associate to be at least 18 years old. The physical demands include continuous mobility, frequent bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other activities necessary for maintaining a high-functioning retail environment. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma preferred
  • two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve

  • demonstrated success in exceeding sales goals

  • proficient with technology such as point of sale systems and Apple devices

Job Duties

  • contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty including credit, and retail shrink
  • ensure each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, and recommending products or services
  • courteously handle sales, refunds, and exchanges
  • pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skin care analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales
  • book appointments and support execution of services and in-store events
  • take ownership over the replenishment, organization, and maintenance of cashwrap displays and impulse fixtures
  • support leadership by completing cashier chat ins and chat outs and associate exit inspections
  • assist in training new cashiers and cross-training associates
  • share guest loyalty program benefits and create excitement around loyalty goals
  • ensure compliance with policies and standards
  • complete all transactions and proper cash control
  • maintain outstanding store standards and cleanliness
  • protect company assets and minimize loss
  • participate in ongoing training and collaborate with managers and associates
