The Lead Cashier role at Ulta Beauty plays a crucial part in the customer experience and operational efficiency of each store. Responsible for managing the cashwrap area and ensuring smooth and efficient guest transactions, this position requires a combination of leadership, guest service expertise, attention to detail, and process excellence. The Lead Cashier supports the training and development of new and existing cashiers while contributing to various aspects of store operations. This position not only handles day-to-day cashiering tasks but also promotes guest loyalty through engaging discussions about Ulta Beauty’s loyalty programs and credit offerings.
This role embodies a leadership position with responsibilities ranging from operational functions like register openings and closures to ensuring adherence to company standards related to cleanliness, organization, and loss prevention. The Lead Cashier influences peers by modeling excellent customer service and operational practices, driving sales performance, and maintaining a guest-friendly environment. By greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, and recommending products, the Lead Cashier is a key contributor to the store’s sales and guest loyalty results.
The ideal candidate must be adaptable, capable of working a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and continuous mobility throughout their shift. Experience with point-of-sale systems and a commitment to guest service excellence are essential. Job Requirements
- Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to continuously move throughout the store and perform physical tasks such as bending, crouching, lifting up to 25 lbs
- Ability to use good judgment in ambiguous situations
- Willingness to adhere to Ulta Beauty's dress code and policies
- Commitment to maintaining outstanding store standards and cleanliness
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred
- Two years of relevant work experience preferred
- Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
- Strong guest service and sales competency
- Experience in handling guest concerns professionally
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales goals
- Experience training new hires
- Proficient with basic technology such as POS systems and Apple devices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties
- Manage guest transactions efficiently at the cashwrap area
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashwrap and surrounding displays
- Assist in training new cashiers and cross-train associates in cashiering procedures
- Promote and drive guest loyalty programs including credit offerings
- Support leadership by performing register open and close functions and associate exit inspections
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and loss prevention standards
- Engage guests with personalized service and product recommendations
