The role of Lead Cashier at Ulta Beauty is pivotal in ensuring the smooth, accurate, and welcoming operation of the cashwrap area. As the lead among cashiers, the individual is responsible not only for efficient guest transactions but also for upholding high standards in cashwrap cleanliness, organization, and overall aesthetics. This position plays an integral part in driving the store’s loyalty results through a focus on performance metrics including sales, guest experience, and loyalty program participation. The Lead Cashier also takes a proactive role in the training and development of new cashiers and the cross-training of other associates, thereby enhancing team productivity and fostering a collaborative environment.

The Lead Cashier duties encompass supporting the leadership team with critical open and close functions, ensuring associate exit inspections are accurately conducted, and managing cashier chat in/outs. The role requires a passion for delivering exceptional guest service and process excellence with a dedication to meeting and exceeding store goals. The Lead Cashier serves as a brand ambassador, engaging with every guest to share the benefits of Ulta Beauty’s Loyalty Life Cycle and creating a guest-friendly environment that personalizes service according to client needs.

Job Requirements

  • Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to frequently bend, push, pull, crouch, stoop, twist, reach, and lift/move up to 25 pounds
  • Continuous mobility throughout the store during shifts
  • Ability to comply with company dress code and policies
  • Must complete all transaction protocols and cash controls
  • Ability to engage in interactive process for accommodations if needed

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination
  • Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
  • Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and sales
  • Experience addressing guest concerns professionally
  • Proven experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires
  • Proficient with Point of Sale systems and Apple devices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure and adapt to change

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store sales, loyalty, and shrink goals
  • Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting and engaging each guest
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously
  • Assist with cashier training and cross-training associates
  • Maintain cashwrap displays and overall store cleanliness
  • Support leadership with register open and close procedures
  • Promote loyalty programs including credit and Ulta Beauty app
