Job Description
Legends Global is a globally recognized leader in the sports and entertainment hospitality industry, renowned for partnering with some of the world’s greatest live events, venues, and brands. As a premier provider, Legends delivers a comprehensive, fully integrated suite of premium services designed to enhance guest experiences and keep partner brands front and center through a white-label approach. Their expertise lies in industry-leading hospitality and food and beverage operations, ensuring memorable guest experiences across premier sports and entertainment venues worldwide. The company’s dedication to excellence and innovation makes it a sought-after employer for professionals looking to build a career in the dynamic event and hospitality sectors.
The Lead Bartender role at Legends Global represents a critical leadership position within their Concessions Food & Beverage department. Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Supervisor or Manager, this non-exempt, hourly role is integral to the smooth functioning of bar operations during events held at prestigious venues, such as Pechanga Arena in San Diego. This part-time, event-based position demands a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other event-related hours to meet the needs of high-profile live entertainment.
The Lead Bartender is primarily responsible for overseeing multiple aspects of bar operations and managing the bartending team on site. Unlike typical bartender roles that focus solely on serving guests, this position emphasizes operational leadership and staff supervision. Key responsibilities include directing bartending staff assignments, enforcing responsible alcohol service compliance, managing inventory, ensuring cash accountability, and optimizing the overall guest experience. This leadership role requires an individual capable of balancing team management with operational priorities, maintaining high standards of beverage service quality and safety, and responding dynamically to the fast-paced environment of live events.
An essential function of the Lead Bartender is to serve as the operational leader of assigned bars, ensuring readiness before guests arrive by confirming well-stocked and organized bar stations. The Lead Bartender monitors service speed and beverage quality throughout events, adjusting staffing as necessary based on guest demand and event activity. They must ensure all beverages are consistently prepared according to established recipes and company standards. Additionally, they act as the first point of escalation for employee concerns and operational issues, providing coaching and performance feedback to foster teamwork and professional conduct.
Responsible alcohol service is a core component of the role, requiring vigilance to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and venue-specific regulations. The Lead Bartender actively monitors responsible beverage practices, enforces proper identification procedures, and addresses intoxication concerns per company policy. Maintaining a safe environment for guests and staff is paramount.
Guest satisfaction is a priority; the Lead Bartender collaborates closely with team members to resolve guest concerns, support service recovery, and uphold exceptional guest service standards throughout every event. Inventory management responsibilities include assisting with product tracking, inventory counts, and supporting cash handling procedures through opening and closing reconciliations.
Health and safety standards are rigorously maintained as the Lead Bartender ensures that bar areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation protocols, while also promoting workplace safety and quick resolution of any safety issues. The role also requires flexibility to provide direct bartending support during peak periods or staffing shortages and to assist with beverage operations throughout the venue as directed.
This role is ideal for candidates with at least one year of bartending experience and some leadership or supervisory background. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices, hold or be able to obtain Responsible Beverage Service Certification, and demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills. Experience handling POS systems and cash transactions is also important, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven atmosphere. The Lead Bartender at Legends Global offers a unique opportunity to be part of a prestigious organization dedicated to excellence in hospitality and live event experiences, contributing directly to the success of high-profile entertainment events.
