The role available is the Events & Entertainment Senior Supervisor at Lake Compounce, a seasonal position with a focus on daytime Halloween events. This position plays a vital supervisory and operational role in ensuring the successful execution of a variety of entertainment initiatives, including events, shows, character interactions, and overall atmospheric entertainment designed to enhance the guest experience significantly. As a Senior Supervisor, you will be expected to lead by example, embodying the core values of Lake Compounce, provide mentorship and coaching to the entertainment team, and ensure compliance with all company policies and safety regulations. You will also be tasked with hands-on duties such as backfilling event positions as needed and assisting with scheduling and timekeeping.

On the departmental level, the Senior Supervisor collaborates closely with both park and corporate event leadership to assess and improve entertainment strategies, manage multiple concurrent event projects from conceptualization through execution, and maintain the accuracy of the park event calendar. The role also includes direct involvement in live show productions and ensuring smooth operational coordination with other park teams before, during, and after events. A crucial aspect of this position is proactive problem-solving during events to maintain high standards of guest satisfaction and operational safety.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in English, with additional bilingual skills such as Spanish considered an advantage. Educational preferences include a high school diploma or GED, coupled with at least two years of experience in shows, acting, choreography, or performance events. Required are strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, flexibility for varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays, and the physical capability to manage demanding environments and activities typical of theme park entertainment settings.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and open to close
  • Must be able to work nights up to 12 AM (midnight) during certain events
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work for your scheduled shift
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations in a positive and professional manner, meet the demands of constant deadlines and coordinate multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Must possess and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and desire to participate in delivering successful and high-quality events
  • Ability to follow direction, multi-task, handle stress, and work as part of a fast-paced team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ year of previous work experience in the areas of shows, acting, choreography, or performance events is highly desired
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus
  • Experience mentoring or coaching team members
  • Knowledge of event management and production
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet deadlines

Job Duties

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Events & Entertainment team and any other assigned departments
  • Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Lake Compounce's core values
  • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned hosts
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe and productive environment for colleagues and guests
  • Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all events-related positions and backfill these positions when needed
  • Participate in aspects of supervision of assigned employees, including training, performance coaching, and discipline
  • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Connecticut law
  • Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities
  • Collaborate with park and corporate events leadership to evaluate current Events & Entertainment strategies at Lake Compounce
  • Manage the conceptualization, planning and execution of multiple events, concurrently
  • Become knowledgeable of all events that are scheduled at the park to align with all Sales & Marketing events promotions
  • Maintain Park event calendar, ensures its data accuracy, and makes any necessary adjustments
  • Assist with the execution of live stage shows and other performances
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety policies and procedures during events
  • Manage event & activation operations for scheduled in-park events
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with park operations teams to deliver best in class prior to, day of, and post event execution
  • Proactively address and resolve any unexpected issues that may occur during event
  • Provide solution-based ideas to quickly and creatively resolve problems
  • Promptly escalate any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or emergencies to the proper authorities
  • All other duties assigned by leadership
