Lake Compounce, part of the Herschend family, is currently seeking a Seasonal Events & Entertainment Supervisor to join their dynamic team for daytime Halloween events. This seasonal role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the event execution and entertainment operations at one of the company’s flagship parks. The Events & Entertainment Senior Supervisor will play a vital role in coordinating and implementing diverse entertainment offerings such as events, live shows, character interactions, and atmospheric entertainment designed to enhance the guest experience throughout the park. This role involves supervising a team of hosts and ensuring smooth operations of all entertainment activities, reflecting Lake Compounce's core values and commitment to guest satisfaction.

The supervisor will lead daily activities, provide mentorship and coaching, and ensure that all entertainment and event operations comply with company policies and safety standards. Responsibilities include managing multiple events from concept to execution, maintaining the park event calendar with accuracy, and collaborating with both park and corporate leadership to optimize event strategies. The role necessitates strong problem-solving skills to swiftly address unforeseen issues and maintain the highest levels of service during events. A foundational understanding of all events-related positions is required, as the supervisor may need to step in and perform essential duties when necessary. Additionally, the position calls for impeccable communication skills, flexibility to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, and a genuine passion for delivering memorable guest experiences.

Candidates ideally possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least two years of relevant experience in shows, acting, choreography, or performance events. Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish, are considered a plus and can enhance guest interaction. The physical demands of the role involve standing or walking for extended periods, occasionally lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and working in various environmental conditions including outdoor weather variations. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and open to close
  • Must be able to work nights up to 12 AM (midnight) during certain events
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work for your scheduled shift
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations in a positive and professional manner, meet the demands of constant deadlines and coordinate multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Must possess and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and desire to participate in delivering successful and high-quality events
  • Ability to follow direction, multi-task, handle stress, and work as part of a fast-paced team
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
  • Ability to remain sedentary for periods of time, while using a computer
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to safely climb or descend stairs and/or ladders
  • This role will be based in both an office setting as well as frequent interaction with all outdoor and indoor areas of the park
  • Extended work hours during event preparation and execution may be required
  • Frequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
  • Subject to frequent interruptions, changing priorities, constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years of previous work experience in the areas of shows, acting, choreography, or performance events is highly desired
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations professionally
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to follow directions and demonstrate leadership qualities

Job Duties

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Events & Entertainment team and any other assigned departments
  • Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Lake Compounce's core values
  • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned hosts
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe and productive environment for colleagues and guests
  • Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all events-related positions and backfill these positions when needed
  • Participate in aspects of supervision of assigned employees, including training, performance coaching, and discipline
  • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Connecticut law
  • Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities
  • Collaborate with park and corporate events leadership to evaluate current Events & Entertainment strategies at Lake Compounce
  • Manage the conceptualization, planning and execution of multiple events, concurrently
  • Become knowledgeable of all events that are scheduled at the park to align with all Sales & Marketing events promotions
  • Maintain Park event calendar, ensures its data accuracy, and makes any necessary adjustments
  • Assist with the execution of live stage shows and other performances
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety policies and procedures during events
  • Manage event & activation operations for scheduled in-park events
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with park operations teams to deliver best in class prior to, day of, and post event execution
  • Proactively address and resolve any unexpected issues that may occur during event
  • Provide solution-based ideas to quickly and creatively resolve problems
  • Promptly escalate any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or emergencies to the proper authorities
  • All other duties assigned by leadership
