Job Description
The Shelborne Miami Beach is a renowned Art Deco hotel nestled in the heart of Miami Beach. As an iconic destination reimagined for a new generation, The Shelborne blends historic charm with contemporary culture to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. This property serves as a cultural and social anchor for locals, travelers, hotel guests, and members alike. It boasts dynamic nightlife venues such as the Lobby Bar and the intimate Little Torch cocktail lounge, which are designed to be lived-in, magnetic, and culturally relevant, reflecting the unique spirit of Miami Beach rather than being managed from a distance. The Shelborne’s commitment to art, fashion, wellness, and music highlights its integration into Miami’s rich cultural identity, making it a hub for creativity and vibrant experiences.
The opportunity at The Shelborne Miami Beach is for an experienced kitchen team member to support the Sous Chef and Chef de Cuisine in managing kitchen operations. This role is essential in ensuring smooth workflows, maintaining the highest culinary standards, and fostering a positive working environment within the kitchen brigade. The successful candidate will oversee kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers, training and mentoring them while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role requires hands-on involvement in food preparation and presentation, supporting the culinary vision with quality and creativity. The position demands collaboration with front-of-house teams to guarantee excellent guest experiences through timely and accurate food service.
The Shelborne places great emphasis on managing inventory efficiently, working closely with the purchasing department to maintain adequate stock levels, minimize waste, and optimize kitchen expenses. The role also involves ensuring that kitchen workspaces remain clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety protocols through routine inspections and active supervision. This kitchen leadership position demands strong culinary skills, the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to upholding the hotel’s quality standards.
Candidates should bring formal culinary training and significant experience in professional kitchens, including supervisory responsibilities. The Shelborne values passionate cooks who are motivated to lead and inspire others while maintaining rigorous standards in food preparation, presentation, and safety. The role calls for physical stamina and flexibility to thrive in demanding kitchen conditions and schedules. Joining The Shelborne means contributing to a dynamic team that celebrates creativity, hospitality excellence, and authentic cultural experiences.
