The Kitchen Prep position is integral to maintaining the high standards of food preparation that customers expect. This role involves preparing a broad range of food items including chicken salads, pimento cheese, side salads, soups, sauces, cookies, desserts, and other culinary products. The employee will utilize various kitchen equipment and utensils to ensure that all products meet the company’s standardized recipes and portion specifications. Precision in following these standards is critical to the success of the team's Speed of Service (SOS) goals and overall customer satisfaction.

Employees will be responsible for maintaining kitchen cleanliness and meeting sanitation standards to ensure a safe and efficient workplace. They are required to adhere strictly to the company's brand standards, including uniform appearance and personal grooming, which underlines the professional image the company upholds. The role also includes completing daily checklists related to opening and closing preparations, ensuring that all tasks listed on the Daily Prep List are performed accurately and timely.

The position demands a deep understanding of CSC's standardized cooking methods and portion controls, allowing the kitchen team to consistently deliver quality products. Responsibility for keeping the workstation clean encompasses not only food contact surfaces but also equipment like steamers and refrigeration units, supporting overall kitchen safety and hygiene. Moreover, employees assist in shutting down the kitchen properly each day and participate actively in team meetings, where they can present suggestions for improving operations.

The employee must promptly communicate any equipment malfunctions, food quality issues, or product shortages to management to mitigate risks and maintain operational flow. The use of standard recipe cards is mandatory, ensuring that all products are prepared consistently and without reliance on individual memory, thereby preserving the integrity of the brand’s recipes. This role offers a stable and supportive work environment, emphasizing teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to established protocols.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Always adhere to brand standards for uniform appearance and personal grooming
  • Completes duties on opening and closing prep and checklists
  • Refers to daily prep list at the start of each shift for assigned duties
  • Prepares a variety of food products including chicken salads, pimento cheese, side salads, soups, sauces, cookies, desserts, and other items for cooking/serving to guest according to CSC recipe and product standards
  • Understands and complies consistently with CSC standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • Prepares all food products in accordance with CSC portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station including tables, shelves, walls, steamer, kitchen and refrigeration equipment
  • Closes the kitchen properly, following the closing checklist for kitchen and assists others in closing the kitchen
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to management
  • Informs management immediately of product shortages
  • Uses our standard recipe cards for preparing all products
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the management
