The role of Kitchen Manager at The Goddard School of Chicago (River West) is a vital position focused on promoting child wellness through nutritious and safe meal preparation and service. The Kitchen Manager will oversee all kitchen operations in a child-focused setting, ensuring that meals and snacks are age-appropriate and adhere to nutritional guidelines. This position involves responsibility for managing kitchen inventory, ordering food supplies, and maintaining budgetary controls related to food service. The Kitchen Manager must enforce strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health code regulations, ensuring the kitchen environment is clean, organized, and safe at all times. Working closely with classroom teachers and school administration, the Kitchen Manager coordinates meal schedules and accommodates any dietary restrictions, allergies, or special nutritional needs of the children.
In addition to meal planning and preparation, the Kitchen Manager supervises kitchen equipment maintenance and promptly addresses any issues that arise. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational and time management skills, a passion for child wellness, and a warm, team-oriented demeanor. Job Requirements
- Previous experience in kitchen management, food service, or institutional cooking preferred
- valid Food Handler's Certificate or ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain)
- strong knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and HACCP guidelines
- ability to plan menus that meet USDA/CACFP nutritional guidelines
- experience working in a childcare, school, or similar institutional setting is a plus

- ability to pass a background check
- required shift is 6:45am to 2:45pm or 6:30am to 2:30pm
Job Qualifications
