The role of Kitchen Manager at WOB Bar & Kitchen is integral to the overall success and customer satisfaction within the restaurant. This position is a full-time exempt role with salary plus bonus potential, offering a career path that combines operational leadership with hands-on kitchen expertise. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, the Kitchen Manager is entrusted with overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring that WOB's high food quality and safety standards are consistently met. This includes managing the food preparation process, coordinating the kitchen team, controlling costs, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

The Kitchen Manager leads by example, fostering a positive work culture in a fast-paced setting while upholding the brand's vision for excellence. This role requires comprehensive oversight of purchasing food and supplies, hiring and training kitchen staff, and maintaining compliance with health and labor regulations. Besides operational duties, the Kitchen Manager is responsible for financial management aspects such as controlling food costs, minimizing waste, and managing labor schedules efficiently to optimize profitability.

Job Requirements

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits
  • Ability to retain menu recipe knowledge
  • Flexible schedule that can accommodate the needs of the WOB location
  • Ability to withstand frequent exposure to high and low temperatures, smoke, and steam
  • Frequent contact with sanitary latex gloves, sanitation solutions, all food products including meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, dairy and produce items
  • Ability to learn and understand how to prepare all food items on our menu to World of Beer specifications, appearance and standards in a timely manner

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook and expediter, with a minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Possess strong organizational and decision-making skills
  • Work well in fast-paced setting while maintaining a fun, high energy work environment
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Management Food Handler Certification within 30 days of hire or as required by state

Job Duties

  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant's standards
  • Responsible for ordering food products according to predetermined product specifications and received in correct unit count
  • Control food cost and usage by following proper requisition of products
  • Consistent team player to ensure the success of operations
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition
  • Make employment decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and disciplining kitchen personnel as appropriate
  • Provide orientation of company and operations rules, policies and procedures and oversee training of new kitchen employees
