The ideal candidate will work closely with the General Manager to ensure that daily operations run smoothly and that the food quality consistently meets the highest standards set by ownership. Responsibilities include assisting with hiring and training the back of house (BOH) team, overseeing the preparation and plating of dishes, monitoring inventory and ordering, and managing kitchen scheduling. This role demands someone who is highly engaged during busy periods, working alongside kitchen staff, and leading by example. Exceptional palate skills are essential to ensure sauces, meats, and dishes are crafted perfectly every day. The Kitchen Manager is expected to maintain open communication with front and back of house teams and uphold company policies and standards diligently. Fluency in Spanish and English is required to foster clear communication in a multicultural kitchen environment. Candidates must have at least two years of experience as a Sous Chef or in kitchen management, preferably with knowledge of Mexican cuisine and burrito preparation. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • assist directly with hiring and training decisions for BOH team
  • work closely with GM to ensure restaurant operations run smoothly
  • oversee food quality and consistency at the highest standards
  • train new kitchen staff to restaurant standards
  • ensure food quality meets Owner expectations
  • oversee plating of dishes to ensure consistency
  • taste and oversee sauces, meats, and dishes daily
  • conduct weekly inventory and ordering of BOH supplies
  • create weekly BOH schedule
  • help create a welcoming community environment for kitchen staff
  • guide kitchen staff to ensure kitchen timing meets restaurant standards
  • oversee timing of kitchen
  • work the line and support kitchen staff during busy periods
  • oversee and ensure all company systems and policies are maintained
  • ensure all new employees complete proper training
  • update GM, Owner and FOH Leads on item availability
  • help maintain minimal food waste by ensuring correct food production
