Job Description
Cooper's Hawk is a distinguished winery and restaurant brand that brings a unique blend of Napa Valley-inspired winemaking and full-service dining experiences to its guests. Established in 2005, Cooper's Hawk has grown to feature a wine-inspired retail environment, an upscale yet casual dining space, a bar, and private event venues. Its commitment to quality is reflected not only in its award-winning wines but also in a thoughtfully crafted scratch kitchen menu designed to complement its wines perfectly. The Cooper's Hawk Wine Club, recognized as one of the largest wine clubs globally, offers members exclusive benefits such as curated dining and travel experiences, making it a lifestyle brand that extends beyond just food and wine.
As a Kitchen Manager at Cooper's Hawk, you will play a critical leadership role in driving the culinary excellence and operational success of one or two kitchen departments in this fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position emphasizes the importance of culinary craftsmanship by overseeing a scratch kitchen where food is prepared from the freshest ingredients, ensuring the highest standards in taste and presentation that align with Cooper's Hawk's renowned wines. You will work closely with the Executive Kitchen Manager to maintain uncompromising hospitality standards and a memorable guest experience.
Your role involves multifaceted responsibilities, including supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory and labor, ensuring food safety and sanitation compliance, and contributing to new menu rollouts and private events like monthly Wine Club dinners. You will foster strong collaboration between kitchen and front-of-house teams and lead your team to achieve operational goals. Coaching and mentoring team members to uphold food quality standards is a vital part of this role.
The Kitchen Manager at Cooper's Hawk is also expected to embody the brand's values by creating an inclusive and respectful workplace culture and empowering team members to take pride in their work. This leadership role demands excellent communication skills, financial acumen, and proficiency with tools such as POS systems, scheduling software, inventory management platforms, and Microsoft Office suite.
Cooper's Hawk offers comprehensive benefits, including significant discounts on dining, carryout, retail wines, and private events. Team members enjoy monthly complimentary wine tastings, robust healthcare options (medical, dental, vision, prescription, telehealth), 401(k) with company match, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, and disability as well as life insurance coverage with options for additional coverage. Paid parental leave, paid time off, wellness programs, mental health support, employee relief programs, and various recognition initiatives reflect the company's commitment to employee well-being and career development.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 1-2 years of supervisory experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant kitchen, preferably with scratch kitchen experience. They should be at least 21 years of age, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate financial acumen, and have proficiency in Microsoft Office. Certifications such as ServSafe and state or local licensing are preferred. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work a flexible schedule including weekends and some holidays.
Cooper's Hawk is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in its hiring practices. The company provides reasonable accommodations throughout the employment process. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a vibrant culinary team that values excellence, innovation, and hospitality in a rapidly growing lifestyle brand that delivers exceptional wine and dining experiences.
