Job Description
Our organization is dedicated to providing nutritious and delicious meals to students within the school system, ensuring every child has access to quality food that supports their growth and learning. We operate as a vital part of the educational community, managing food service operations across multiple school cafeterias. Our focus is on maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and service while fostering a positive environment for both students and staff. With compliance to federal and state regulations as well as company policies being a cornerstone of our operations, we prioritize training, effective team management, and operational excellence to deliver an outstanding food service experience each day.
The role of Kitchen Manager is pivotal in achieving these goals. As a Kitchen Manager, you will be entrusted with the full responsibility of daily food service operations at an assigned school location. This includes overseeing all aspects of kitchen functioning such as food preparation, service quality, and safety protocols. You will lead and train kitchen staff, ensuring they are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge about recipes, equipment operation, safety, and sanitation requirements. Effective inventory management will also fall under your purview, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of supplies. You will maintain cleanliness and ensure that equipment is kept in good working order, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
Beyond operational tasks, the Kitchen Manager plays a critical leadership role. You will administer fair and consistent performance evaluations, manage labor schedules to align with staffing needs and budgetary constraints, and ensure adherence to important standards such as HACCP, ServSafe, and health department regulations. Additional responsibilities include overseeing cash handling procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and submitting timely reports to support the school’s food service program.
This position demands a dynamic individual with a passion for food service, excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, and leadership experience. Working in a fast-paced environment that requires hands-on support as well as strategic oversight, the Kitchen Manager must be able to motivate a team while ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen operations. The role offers the opportunity to directly impact the well-being and academic performance of students by contributing to the quality of the meals they receive every day.
Joining our team means becoming part of a community-focused organization that values diversity and inclusion, offers career development opportunities, and is committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming work environment. Our Kitchen Managers work a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, with occasional extended weeks to meet program demands. This employment opportunity comes with the expectation of reliability, professionalism, and a dedication to the mission of feeding students well. If you have a background in food service and leadership and want to make a lasting difference, this is the perfect role for you.
