The Kitchen Leader role at Chipotle is pivotal in ensuring that the food served is not just fast but also high quality, delicious, and prepared following stringent safety and freshness standards. As a Kitchen Leader, you will take charge of the kitchen operations, helping to prepare meals by grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and ensuring every dish is crafted with care and precision. You will also be responsible for ordering food supplies, monitoring inventory and food waste, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring all kitchen equipment is in excellent working condition. Beyond operational duties, the role requires you to act as a mentor and trainer to future Kitchen Leaders, fostering teamwork between back-of-house and front-of-house crew to create a seamless, great customer experience. The position is active and fast-paced, calling for someone who enjoys being on their feet, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and helping teammates whenever possible.

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
  • developing crew members to be future kitchen leaders
  • communicating with crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair and making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • ensuring that the kitchen itself and all crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
  • filling out material safety data sheets (MSDS) and inventory rotation (FIFO)
