The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle offers an exciting opportunity to play an integral part in delivering the brand’s promise of quality food and exceptional service. A Kitchen Leader is responsible for mastering food preparation techniques including grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and cooking to order following strict kitchen procedures that ensure both food quality and safety. This role entails overseeing the proper maintenance of kitchen equipment, managing inventory levels, and reducing food waste to maximize efficiency and cost control.
In addition to hands-on culinary responsibilities, the Kitchen Leader serves as a coach and mentor to crew members, cultivating future leadership within the kitchen team. By fostering teamwork and supporting effective communication between the back of house and front of house crews, the Kitchen Leader helps create an environment where customer service excellence is a natural outcome. Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen space is also a critical duty to uphold the standards of health and safety.
This position is dynamic and fast-paced. Kitchen Leaders are engaged and active throughout their shifts, taking initiative to address tasks as needed and contributing to a positive, productive work atmosphere. Job Duties
- Ensure food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
- Monitor food waste and inventory levels and resolve food quality issues
- Support a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
- Develop crew members to be future kitchen leaders
- Communicate effectively with crew members and customers to ensure great customer service and throughput
- Ensure the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
- Monitor kitchen equipment and ensure it is kept in good repair, making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired quickly
- Ensure kitchen and crew meet necessary safety guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
- Fill out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
