The Kitchen Lead at Talkin' Tacos plays a pivotal role in the success of the restaurant by leading and developing the culinary team. This position requires a dedicated leader who oversees daily kitchen operations to ensure that every dish meets the company’s high standards for quality and presentation. The Kitchen Lead is responsible for building a strong team culture centered around hospitality, efficiency, and professionalism. This role also involves managing kitchen compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations, ensuring that every aspect of the kitchen operates smoothly and within legal standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a similar kitchen supervisory role
  • knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • strong leadership abilities
  • basic computer skills for inventory and scheduling
  • physical ability to perform kitchen tasks

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in kitchen leadership or management
  • strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
  • excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • knowledge of inventory management and labor cost controls
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • culinary background or education preferred

Job Duties

  • Provides direction to kitchen staff, ensuring execution of all employee duties
  • monitors kitchen operations to ensure compliance with health and fire department regulations
  • ensures compliance with state, federal, and local food handling requirements and standards
  • assists in the implementation and management of kitchen and restaurant policies and procedures throughout scheduled shift
  • completes the duties of a line cook when needed, and is capable of performing the duties of all kitchen positions
  • ensures products are stored at the correct temperatures and the recipe books are up to date with current menu items, portions, and ingredients
  • ensures utilization of daily prep sheets and meat/fish yield sheets daily and that product counts are recorded accurately daily, participates in monthly inventory process
  • anticipates, identifies, and corrects any issues with inventory, systems, and staffing
  • monitors labor costs to attain budgeted goals within restaurant policies and procedures
  • oversees and approves training and development of kitchen staff
  • participates in the hiring process by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations
