Job Description
Chick-fil-A is a well-established fast-food restaurant chain known for its commitment to quality, exceptional customer service, and a people-focused culture. The brand prides itself on serving fresh, high-quality chicken products prepared with care and dedication in each of its many locally owned and operated franchises. Each Chick-fil-A restaurant operates under the leadership of an independent, franchised Operator who invests deeply in the development and future success of their Team Members while giving back to the local community. This emphasis on nurturing talent and fostering a positive work environment has led Chick-fil-A to become a highly sought-after employer in the restaurant industry, with a reputation for high team member retention and personal growth opportunities.
The Director of Kitchen Services at Chick-fil-A plays a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations to ensure consistent delivery of crave-able food that meets or exceeds Chick-fil-A quality standards. This full-time position operates primarily on-site and requires strong leadership skills, a passion for food safety and quality, and the ability to motivate and coach a kitchen team to perform at their best. The Director is expected to work up to fifty hours per week, including a minimum of two hours for effective planning, and must be available for weekend shifts and overtime as needed.
In this role, the Director of Kitchen Services is accountable for many vital functions, including coaching team leaders and members in behaviors that drive speed of service, attention to detail, cleanliness, and food safety. They ensure that the kitchen maintains a clean and organized environment prepared for surprise backstage tours with minimal lead time. Managing inventory through accurate ordering, end-of-month counts, and transfer logs is another key responsibility, helping maintain a lean and efficient production environment.
The Director also serves as a collaborator with other restaurant Directors to maintain operational unity and clarity, holding themselves and their peers accountable for executing their respective duties efficiently. Leadership at Chick-fil-A's kitchen extends beyond managing tasks; it involves fostering innovation, systematically communicating goals, and nurturing strong relationships with staff to build a cohesive and passionate team.
Chick-fil-A values a growth mindset, teamwork, honesty, and self-motivation in its Directors. While prior leadership experience is an asset, Chick-fil-A emphasizes the potential for growth and development through hands-on experience within its supportive environment. The organization also aligns hiring, training, and evaluation practices with its organizational vision and annual thematic goals to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with company values.
Working at Chick-fil-A not only means contributing to consistently high-quality food preparation but also being part of a company that offers excellent employee benefits such as flexible hours, health and dental insurance, competitive pay starting at $57,200 per year, 401(k) with matching, scholarships, and more. Beyond the paycheck, employees gain valuable business and leadership skills under the mentorship of independent Operators committed to cultivating future business leaders.
The kitchen environment at Chick-fil-A is rooted in simplicity and freshness. Chick-fil-A prepares its chicken using whole breast meat with no fillers or hormones, breaded by hand, and complemented by freshly chopped produce and hand-squeezed lemonade. This commitment to quality and freshness distinguishes Chick-fil-A and is supported and maintained by the Director of Kitchen Services through their leadership and operational expertise. Joining Chick-fil-A as a Director of Kitchen Services offers a rewarding career path that combines operational excellence with team development in a positive, people-centered atmosphere.
