The role of Full-Time Cook at Kiddie Academy of Seattle is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional who is dedicated to preparing wholesome, nutritious, and delicious meals tailored specifically for young children. This role demands a chef who loves cooking healthy food with an emphasis on fresh, local, and organic ingredients wherever possible. This position offers the cook full autonomy and responsibility over the planning and preparation of daily meals and snacks inside a modern, fully equipped kitchen designed with professional standards in mind. The Full-Time Cook works Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM until approximately 3:00 to 4:00 PM, allowing evenings and weekends free for personal balance. The cook plays a vital role in advancing the academy’s mission by ensuring that children receive balanced and appealing meals that comply with nutrition regulations and local health department standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for meal planning, preparing and distributing food to classrooms, managing inventory, ordering supplies within a set budget, and maintaining impeccable hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards in the kitchen. Job Requirements
- Full-time availability
- minimum 2 years of cooking experience
- knowledge of nutrition regulations and food safety practices
- ability to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00-4:00 PM
- valid food handler's permit
- reliable and organized
- ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations effectively
Job Qualifications
- At least 2 years of cooking experience
- experience in cooking for a school or preschool setting is a plus
- strong customer service mindset
- training in sanitation, food safety, nutrition, and food preparation
- food handler's permit as required by Washington state
Job Duties
- Plans and prepares snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations
- determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom
- removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes accordingly
- performs weekly food and supply inventory
- submits list of needed items to management
- orders food and supply items from approved supplier within budget set by management
- checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed
- ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met
- follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same
- keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean
- attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested
