Job Description

Upper Crust Food Service is a widely recognized culinary company dedicated to serving Sororities and Fraternities across the United States with the highest standards of freshness, quality, variety, and exceptional customer service. Established with the vision to address the challenges frequently faced by Fraternity and Sorority houses, Upper Crust Food Service has made it its mission to provide consistent and professional kitchen operations where previously there may have been a lack of structure and standardization. This company specializes in delivering tens of thousands of meals weekly, demonstrating not only their expansive reach but also the trust placed in them by student organizations nationally. As a company focused on great food and personalized service, Upper Crust Food Service has maintained a strong commitment to its foundational values, ensuring that every customer experience is enjoyable and meets their high expectations.

The role of Kitchen Assistant at Upper Crust Food Service is an essential support position within their culinary team. Kitchen Assistants play a critical part in preparing and executing food items as directed by the Head Chef and Sous Chef, ensuring smooth kitchen operations. This role requires maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, managing equipment readiness, and properly stocking supplies. Besides the technical responsibilities, Kitchen Assistants also contribute positively to the team atmosphere, fostering cooperation and professionalism among coworkers and customers alike. This position offers a stable employment opportunity with a competitive pay range of 15 to 18 USD per hour, making it attractive for those seeking steady work in a dynamic kitchen environment without frequent late nights or weekend demands. Additionally, this role comes with valuable benefits such as paid vacations, a 401K plan with company match, diverse insurance options including health, dental, vision, and even pet insurance, and holiday time off, all contributing to a comprehensive employment package that supports work-life balance and employee wellbeing.

Overall, the Kitchen Assistant position at Upper Crust Food Service is both a rewarding and demanding job that requires collaboration, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy and sometimes high-pressure kitchen setting. Employees in this role are expected to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety, prepared to manage a variety of kitchen equipment ranging from grills and fryers to refrigeration units. Successful candidates will have prior experience in the food service industry, preferably with more than two years in full-service restaurant environments, and will hold or be willing to obtain food safety certifications. The physical demands of this job include long periods of standing, frequent bending, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, acknowledging the active and often strenuous nature of kitchen work. For those passionate about culinary arts and eager to contribute to a reputable organization known for its excellence and commitment to student communities, this role offers a meaningful career path with growth potential and numerous employee benefits to ensure job satisfaction.
