Job Requirements

  • ability to provide or complete CA Food Handler certification and renew as necessary
  • ability to lift up to 50lbs and regularly move items between 10-20lbs
  • ability to stand for long periods of time
  • proper knife handling skills and techniques
  • acute sense of taste and smell

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 2 years line cook experience
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, recipe books, and procedural manuals
  • strong cooking skills
  • leadership and management skills
  • dedication to great food and sustainability values

Job Duties

  • assisting the chef in daily operations of the kitchen
  • performing a wide range of cooking techniques
  • handling food properly and understanding use of kitchen tools, equipment, and safety procedures
  • minimizing food wastage and bringing any deficiencies in quality or consistency to chef's attention
  • ensuring safety procedures are in place and adhered to
  • managing kitchen staff and contributing to staff training
  • maintaining excellent quality, consistency, and presentation of all food prepared
