Job Description
Butcher & Bee is a vibrant, vegetable-forward, Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant located in East Nashville, recognized for its commitment to hospitality, inclusivity, and culinary craftsmanship since its establishment in 2015. The restaurant prides itself on creating a warm, welcoming environment where both guests and team members feel valued and supported. At the heart of Butcher & Bee’s mission is a dedication to high-quality ingredients, community connection, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture where everyone has a chance to grow and contribute meaningfully. The team emphasizes attention to detail and a passion for food that brings people together while striving to make a positive social impact locally and within the broader food industry.
We are currently seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. This full-time, exempt salaried role offers a competitive salary ranging from $50,000 to $55,000 annually and involves approximately 50 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will be stepping into a leadership role that blends hands-on culinary expertise with mentorship and team support. As Junior Sous Chef, you will be an integral part of maintaining the kitchen's high standards, managing daily operations, and ensuring smooth service even during the busiest periods.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead or expedite kitchen action during peak service times, actively contribute to setting and upholding food quality, and organize prep work and station assignments. Supporting the growth and development of peers through coaching and training is a key part of the role, as is collaborating alongside the senior leadership team to achieve kitchen goals and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will often include stepping in to relieve pressure in any critical area, whether that involves prep work, dessert making, assisting line cooks, or even dishwashing when necessary. This role truly requires a team player who is comfortable working under pressure with a keen focus on upholding the restaurant’s standards and values.
Working at Butcher & Bee offers more than just a job; it is a chance to be part of an engaged community that values empowerment, connection, and positive impact. We offer comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 1% company-matched 401(k) plan, potential bonuses, and dining discounts. Our work schedule is flexible to accommodate the needs of our team, with an emphasis on days, nights, weekends, and holidays. We also provide real growth opportunities through internal promotion and support your ongoing professional development in the culinary arts. If you are enthusiastic about vegetable-forward cuisine and eager to take on a leadership role that values mentorship, quality, and teamwork, this is a perfect opportunity to grow your career at a respected East Nashville establishment.
