The Junior Data Scientist role, based in Philadelphia, supports the Sports + Entertainment portfolio by focusing on data analysis related to food and beverage trends across various Philadelphia venues tied to notable professional sports teams like the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles, and Philadelphia Union. This is a full-time position centered around critical data governance tasks, performing advanced analysis and modeling, and making actionable recommendations based on data to unlock new business opportunities. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams and using statistical methods and modern data science techniques to provide insights that improve operational performance and customer engagement.

Key responsibilities include analyzing consumer behavior by leveraging diverse datasets such as purchasing and dining information, integrating labor tracking, Point of Sale (POS), and inventory data systems to identify inefficiencies, and proposing improvements to optimize operations. The Junior Data Scientist will also develop automated reporting workflows to streamline performance tracking across multiple venues and support scalable data pipeline development with technologies like Python, R, and SQL. Additionally, the candidate will assist in building AI-powered applications and conducting machine learning experiments under the guidance of senior data science managers. Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or related field
1-3 years of experience in an analytical or data science role
proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and transformation
familiarity with SQL for data querying and analysis
knowledge of data science workflows including data cleaning, feature engineering, and predictive modeling
strong organizational and time management skills
understanding of statistics, experimental design, and core data science concepts
effective communication skills
willingness to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field
1-3 years of experience in an analytical or data science role
proficiency in data manipulation and transformation using Python or R
familiarity with SQL for data querying and analysis
knowledge of data science workflows including data cleaning, feature engineering, and predictive modeling
effective organizational and time management skills
solid understanding of statistics, experimental design, and core data science concepts
strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
master's degree in a quantitative discipline preferred
experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and interactive app development like Streamlit or RShiny is a plus
familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake is a plus
working knowledge of Git and version control best practices is a plus
experience building AI agents or agentic workflows is a plus

Job Duties

Analyze consumer behavior across Philadelphia venues by leveraging purchasing and dining data to identify key customer segments
Present insights using statistical methods and engaging visualizations tailored to diverse stakeholder audiences
Evaluate operational performance by integrating data from labor tracking, Point of Sale (POS), and inventory systems
Identify inefficiencies and recommend actionable improvements to enhance venue operations
Conduct ad-hoc analyses to assess the effectiveness of short-term strategies
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define success metrics and deliver timely, data-backed evaluations
Support the development of automated reporting workflows that deliver key performance metrics to stakeholders across Philadelphia-area venues
Assist in building scalable data pipelines using Python, R, and SQL to streamline data access and support analytics and reporting initiatives
Assist in the development of AI-powered applications and agentic workflows that automate operational tasks and deliver actionable recommendations
Perform machine learning experiments and model evaluation tasks under the guidance of the team’s Senior Manager of Data Science
