Job Description
Summit Federal Services, LLC (SFS) is a prominent woman-owned Small Business and HUBZone enterprise headquartered in Oakland, Maryland. Known for its outstanding record of providing highly effective and efficient acquisition, business process, training, IT, administrative, and security services, SFS serves multiple federal agencies with a commitment to excellence and innovation. As a fast-growing company, SFS has built a reputation for delivering quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of the federal government. The company fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace environment where dedication, expertise, and integrity are highly valued. Its focus on delivering superior service while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements has positioned it as a trusted partner in the federal contracting arena.
SFS is currently seeking a skilled Joint Force Development & Training HICON Event Planning Action Officer to support the U.S. Space Command Joint Force Development and Training Directorate (J7). This full-time position will be located in either Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, and requires an active TS/SCI clearance. The role is pivotal in providing exercise planning, coordination, and execution support for High Control (HICON) emulation activities that underpin Tier 1 and Tier 2 exercises, including tabletop exercises (TTXs), wargames, and seminars. The position requires up to 25% travel both within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS), ensuring hands-on support at various exercise venues.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience supporting Combatant Command-level training events and a comprehensive understanding of the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) planning process. Responsibilities emphasize senior leader coordination in classified environments, demanding exceptional communication and organizational skills. By serving as the primary Action Officer for HICON and emulation planning, the incumbent will coordinate and support multifaceted training events while working closely with government stakeholders and technical representatives to ensure mission success.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to national security initiatives by enabling realistic, complex training exercises that prepare the U.S. Space Command and associated entities for operational challenges. The individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&M), schedules, project roadmaps, and for the orchestration of logistics, staffing, security, and operational planning efforts. Additionally, the position demands the preparation of executive-level briefings, reports, meeting minutes, and after-action products to document and enhance the quality of exercises. Post-exercise evaluations, including hotwashes and after-action reporting, are critical to continuous improvement.
Working in this environment will expose the candidate to cutting-edge joint warfighting concepts, space operations, and integrated homeland defense strategies. Those with prior military operational planning or exercise control experience will find this position particularly well-aligned with their skill set. SFS prioritizes a collaborative workplace culture, equal opportunity employment, and accommodation for individuals with disabilities, reinforcing its commitment to professional growth and workplace fairness. Employment with SFS goes beyond just a job, offering a chance to impact national defense capabilities and advance one’s career within a respected federal contracting firm.
