Job Description
Hillsboro Medical Center is a reputable healthcare institution committed to delivering exceptional patient care and fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff. Known for its dedication to quality service and community health, the center offers various medical services and employs skilled professionals to ensure smooth clinical operations. Situated in a region that values comprehensive medical support, Hillsboro Medical Center plays a vital role in managing patient intake, insurance procedures, and appointment coordination to optimize healthcare delivery. The center maintains a strong emphasis on equality and inclusivity in employment practices, ensuring a diverse and welcoming workplace.
The Medical Receptionist position at Hillsboro Medical Center serves as the initial point of contact for new and existing patients and their families. This role is essential in maintaining the flow of communication between patients and the healthcare team. The Medical Receptionist skillfully manages the multi-line telephone system, schedules appointments following established protocols, verifies insurance coverages, coordinates authorizations for care, and supports the check-in and check-out processes. This demanding role requires exceptional multitasking abilities, critical thinking, and customer service skills to handle a variety of administrative duties efficiently.
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $19.05 to $26.11, reflecting the importance of the role in the medical office setting. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, collecting and entering patient information, managing co-payments, and handling insurance documentation accurately. This position also involves routing communications such as faxes, prescription refill requests, and test results to appropriate personnel.
Attention to detail is key in this role, as the receptionist updates financial records, monitors missed appointments, and assists with insurance referrals, including handling authorization paperwork and resolving any issues with denials. The Medical Receptionist maintains an organized workspace and ensures the smooth daily operation of the clinic, including closing duties like balancing the cash drawer and preparing charts for the following day.
Beyond routine responsibilities, the Medical Receptionist participates in monthly staff meetings, communicates supply needs, attends insurance workshops, and complies with all mandatory education and licensure requirements. The role demands an understanding of medical terminology and insurance processes, along with the ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds. Preferred candidates are bilingual in Spanish and English, which aids in serving a broad patient population.
Working independently with minimal supervision, the Medical Receptionist is integral to patient satisfaction and clinic efficiency. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dedicated healthcare team where each interaction contributes directly to patient care and organizational success. The role does not carry direct budget responsibility or supervisory duties, allowing the focus to remain on delivering excellent patient service and managing front desk operations professionally and efficiently.
