Job Description

Operations Technology Solutions is a cornerstone of Amazon's extensive global supply chain, facilitating the seamless flow of tens of thousands of products to customers across hundreds of countries daily. This team is integral to Amazon's commitment to speed, accuracy, and exceptional service. By supporting IT infrastructure, developing cutting-edge technology in-house, and ensuring smooth operations at new and existing Amazon facilities, Operations Technology Solutions acts as a vital enabler within the e-commerce giant's operational backbone. Amazon is renowned for its innovative culture and complex logistics network, and the Operations Technology Solutions team is at the heart of this ecosystem, providing nonstop IT support that keeps Amazon’s operations running efficiently and without interruption.

The role of an IT Support Engineer I within this team is both challenging and dynamic, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and operations in one of the world’s largest e-commerce companies. This role is designed for self-motivated professionals who thrive on solving complex problems and developing practical solutions that impact the overall operational efficiency. As an IT Support Engineer I, you will be responsible for implementing technical solutions and providing high-quality support for computer hardware, operating systems, and enterprise applications across multiple sites within a defined geographic area. Working in this capacity requires a blend of technical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to adapt and deviate from standard operating procedures when necessary to resolve issues effectively.

In this position, you will conduct network engineering and troubleshooting, handle data cabling, and perform systems administration across various software and hardware environments. You will ensure that infrastructure networking and computing systems are available and functional during critical production hours, providing hands-on support both onsite and remotely. The role demands strong communication skills, as you will liaise with management and staff to offer analytical and technical assistance aimed at continuous IT improvement. Additionally, you will manage local technical projects, develop or uphold IT policies and procedures, and identify root causes of operational challenges and inefficiencies. Physical aspects of the job include lifting weights up to 49 pounds and enduring shifts that may last up to 12 hours, which highlights the hands-on and physically engaged nature of the work.

Amazon offers competitive compensation packages for this role, including a base salary range of $25.00 to $41.00 USD hourly in Baltimore, MD. The total compensation package may feature sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs), alongside comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance starting on day one, a 401(k) matching program, paid parental leave, and a casual dress code conducive to operational environments. This supportive and inclusive culture empowers employees to achieve the best results for customers while fostering professional growth. The IT Support Engineer I position at Amazon’s Operations Technology Solutions is thus an excellent opportunity for technically skilled individuals seeking a challenging, rewarding career within a globally recognized company dedicated to innovation and customer satisfaction.
