Job Description
Amazon Operations is a dynamic and integral part of Amazon's global business, renowned for its speed, accuracy, and exceptional customer service. The company operates numerous fulfillment centers, transportation hubs, and delivery stations, distributing tens of thousands of products daily to hundreds of countries worldwide. At the core of Amazon Operations is Operations Technology Solutions, which provides critical IT support to ensure seamless and continuous business operations. Through cutting-edge technology and innovative problem-solving, the Operations Technology team plays a vital role in supporting and optimizing Amazon's operational infrastructure.
This position is specifically for an IT Support Engineer I within Amazon Operations Technology Solutions. The role is designed for self-motivated individuals who are enthusiastic about tackling new challenges and who possess a passion for troubleshooting and technical problem resolution. As an IT Support Engineer I, you will leverage your specialized skills to implement technical solutions and deliver high-quality support for a variety of computer hardware, operating systems, and enterprise application software across multiple sites within a defined geographical region. This position requires a proactive approach to IT support, where an individual must determine when it is appropriate to deviate from standard procedures to achieve the best outcome.
The role involves troubleshooting straightforward to moderately complex technical issues, especially those without established standard operating procedures, which means you will be empowered to exercise judgment and creativity in problem-solving. As part of the duties, you will ensure the availability and robustness of infrastructure networking and computing systems during production hours. You will regularly interact with management and staff to provide analytical and technical assistance aimed at continuously improving IT solutions, demonstrating a commitment to operational excellence.
You will also be responsible for managing local technical projects, maintaining or creating IT policies and procedures, and identifying root causes of operational issues and inefficiencies to streamline processes. Physical aspects of the job include the ability to move up to 49 pounds and stand or walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, as onsite support is critical. Support will be provided to customers from multiple buildings within the area, as well as remotely, and occasional travel within the local or regional area is expected.
Amazon offers competitive compensation for this role, with an hourly wage ranging from $25.00 to $41.00, supplemented by sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Employment benefits are comprehensive and available from day one, including healthcare coverage encompassing medical, dental, vision, and prescription plans; life insurance options; employee assistance programs; mental health support; 401(k) matching; paid time off; and parental leave up to 20 weeks. Amazon's culture is inclusive and supportive, emphasizing the importance of accommodation for individuals with disabilities throughout the hiring and work process.
This full-time role embraces a casual dress code with practical attire such as jeans, t-shirts, safety shoes, and safety vests, ensuring comfort and safety for all employees. The IT Support Engineer I position at Amazon marries technical expertise with operational excellence, providing a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for those passionate about technology and innovation within one of the world’s most respected and fastest-growing companies.
