The role of IT Senior Project Manager at Baker Construction is a critical leadership position responsible for managing complex IT solution programs and projects from initial planning stages through implementation. This role demands a strategic thinker and skilled project manager who can handle multi-faceted projects with precision and a proactive approach. The IT Senior Project Manager will be involved in overseeing project budgeting, hiring and managing team members, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring on-time project releases. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between various stakeholders including analysts, programmers, sponsors, users, and external vendors, maintaining effective communication and consensus throughout the project lifecycle.

In addition to project management, the IT Senior Project Manager will contribute to developing and executing the IT strategy and roadmap. This position demands the ability to handle complex problem-solving tasks, resolve disputes, and maintain accountability among all parties involved, including vendors and consultants. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in IT or business-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience of 8 or more years
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program or project management methodologies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, and MS Project
  • Experience with payroll transformation ownership
  • Five or more years managing complex projects
  • One to two years leadership experience
  • Experience managing financial and construction applications and process improvement projects
  • Ability to travel by automobile or airplane up to 15 percent
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to develop comprehensive project documentation
  • Ability to perform basic math, geometry, and algebra
  • Must be self-motivated with leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate team in a collaborative environment
  • Strong mediation and problem-solving skills
  • Availability for on-call and periodic afterhours work

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in IT or a business-related field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with program or project management methodologies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, and MS Project
  • Experience with direct payroll transformation ownership
  • Five or more years managing complex IT projects
  • One to two years in a leadership role
  • Experience managing financial and construction applications and process improvement programs or projects
  • Experience in a mid-sized company or larger
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the company
  • Experience with PMP certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of Viewpoint - VISTA Construction Management software is a plus
  • Experience in the construction industry is advantageous

Job Duties

  • Oversee planning and implementation of IT programs or projects through budgeting, hiring, sourcing suppliers, and scheduling project releases
  • Provide feedback, advice, project updates, and encouragement to team members
  • Set program or project scope, priorities, deadlines, and deliverable schedules based on requirements
  • Schedule work activities and meetings
  • Provide regular reports and updates on program or project progress and deadlines to stakeholders
  • Ensure all project documentation such as workflows, requirements, training, and how-to guides is completed
  • Resolve complex project-related issues, disputes, and disagreements
  • Assist with development and implementation of IT strategy and roadmap
  • Manage relationships between vendors or consultants and management
  • Facilitate discussions and consensus among various project stakeholders
  • Collaborate across departments to meet their needs and hold others accountable for deliverables
