Job Description

Home Chef is a dynamic meal kit delivery service company that focuses on providing fresh, customizable meal options to customers, specializing in innovative and convenient food solutions. The company prides itself on delivering high-quality ingredients directly to consumers' doorsteps, enabling them to create delicious and nutritious meals with ease. Known for its commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence, Home Chef operates within the food distribution and warehouse management sector, maintaining rigorous standards for safety, quality, and efficiency throughout its processes. With a culture rooted in teamwork, innovation, and inclusivity, Home Chef is dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging workplace where employees can thrive.

The role of Inventory Clerk at Home Chef is a critical position responsible for supporting the Inventory Manager in maintaining accurate stock levels, warehouse organization, and inventory reporting. This full-time position operates on the 1st shift schedule, working from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM with weekends off, aligning with the company's commitment to work-life balance. Inventory Clerks play an essential role in ensuring that all products are properly stored following FEFO (First Expired, First Out) and FIFO (First In, First Out) principles. This includes regular audits of the warehouse to monitor product placement and expiration, as well as overseeing material handling procedures to prevent product misplacement.

Inventory Clerks are responsible for systematic organization within the warehouse, working closely with the inventory control team and leadership to prepare for current and future menu plans. They monitor product movement from the receiving dock to the storage locations and ultimately to final disposition. Additionally, these clerks identify and handle expired or unusable products, manage waste tracking, and provide detailed reporting to the Inventory Manager. This involves significant detail orientation and collaboration with other departments such as procurement, warehouse management, and production teams. They also handle inventory counts, report discrepancies, and confirm product receipts to ensure data accuracy.

Beyond inventory control, Inventory Clerks are expected to comply with facility-wide GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), contribute to maintaining the company’s food safety system (SQF), and uphold all safety policies by wearing required protective equipment and promptly reporting any safety concerns. The role requires flexibility to respond to work inquiries during nights and weekends, emphasizing the importance of communication and reliability in fast-paced environments.

Home Chef values humble team players who are warm, gracious, and receptive to feedback, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The company encourages pragmatic thinking, ownership, and innovation, expecting team members to approach challenges with curiosity and determination to exceed goals. Embracing diversity and inclusion, Home Chef ensures that all employees feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work in a welcoming environment.

Overall, the Inventory Clerk position is ideal for individuals with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining operational efficiency within a food production and distribution context. With competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid holidays and vacation, 401k programs, and flexible spending accounts, this role offers not only a stable work environment but also opportunities for professional growth within a vibrant and forward-thinking company.
