The Port's mission is centered around enhancing the prosperity of Oregon while prioritizing sustainability, equity, and innovation. With a strong commitment to fostering regional development and supporting sustainable practices, the Port of Portland plays an instrumental role in maintaining vital infrastructure that facilitates trade, travel, and commerce in the Pacific Northwest.
One of the highlights of the Port's operations is the Portland International Airport (PDX), a major airport known not only for its transportation excellence but also for creating a welcoming community atmosphere for travelers and employees alike. The Port is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences and ensuring accessibility for all individuals who interact with the airport environment. In pursuit of these goals, the Port continuously develops engaging community and employee programs and events that honor the diverse people who make the airport a vibrant hub.
The Port of Portland is currently seeking a Customer Experience Event Intern to support its extensive efforts at PDX. This internship opportunity offers an engaging and meaningful experience for students interested in event planning, customer service, and community engagement within a dynamic transportation setting. The role involves assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of employee recognition events and accessibility-focused community activities. The intern will collaborate across departments, including communications and social media teams, to promote engagement initiatives and ensure impactful event delivery.
This internship position is designed for students currently enrolled in accredited Oregon or Washington colleges or universities pursuing degrees in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related fields. The internship is a valuable chance to develop professional skills in event logistics, stakeholder collaboration, customer experience strategy, and data-driven program evaluation. Interns will gain hands-on experience that can set a strong foundation for future careers in event management, marketing, or customer relations.
The internship is a temporary role expected to conclude by May 31, 2027, with compensation varying based on academic year and prior experience. Selected candidates must maintain enrollment in their academic programs throughout the internship period and must meet specific safety and security requirements to obtain a PDX Security Badge. The role demands a proactive, motivated individual with strong organizational capabilities, proficient in multitasking and Microsoft Office Suite applications, and possessing excellent communication skills.
