The Grand Hyatt Denver is currently seeking an Intermediate Cook 2 to join their culinary team. This position involves rotating work assignments between the Courier restaurant and the Main Kitchen, with shifts varying depending on business needs, requiring flexible availability for both AM and PM shifts. The role centers on working collaboratively within a team environment to prepare kitchen ingredients and produce standardized meals primarily focused on banquet services. This position demands consistency in delivering high-quality food products every time, adhering to the hotel’s standards and culinary expectations.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of professional cooking experience within a high-volume restaurant or a combination of formal culinary training and practical experience. Strong communication skills, proficient knife skills, product knowledge, and familiarity with various cooking methods are essential. The role also necessitates physical stamina to stand for extended periods and the ability to handle moderate lifting and carrying tasks. Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year professional cooking experience in high-volume operation or combination of cooking experience and formal training
  • flexible availability including both AM and PM shifts
  • ability to stand on feet for long periods
  • ability to lift, push and carry moderate amounts of weight
  • good communication and knife skills
  • knowledge of cooking methods
  • must work weekends and holidays
  • willingness to work in fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Refined verbal communication skills
  • 1 year of previous line cooking experience preferred
  • culinary degree or related hotel experience preferred
  • ability to perform all basic cooking skills
  • able to work single station in the kitchen
  • desire to satisfy guest needs in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to stand for long periods
