This particular role is a full-time, non-management position based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the 1 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd location. The position falls within the food and beverage and culinary category, specifically focused on room service operations. As a room service order taker, you will play a critical part in delivering the esteemed Ritz-Carlton guest experience by managing room service requests efficiently and professionally. Your responsibilities will include answering phone calls to take room service orders, providing detailed information about menu selections, and liaising with kitchen staff to ensure that all guest dietary needs, allergies, and special requests are communicated and fulfilled accurately. This job requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask during busy periods.

In this role, you will also be responsible for using the MICROS system to log orders, process payments, and complete end-of-day closing reports. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is essential to uphold the hotel's standards of excellence. You will be expected to notify guests and management promptly if there are any delays, ensuring transparency and preserving guest satisfaction. The position demands strong teamwork skills, as you will need to collaborate closely with kitchen personnel, management, and other associates to provide seamless service. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • No related work experience
  • No supervisory experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Ability to use point of sale systems
  • Must be able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to move and lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance

Job Duties

  • Take room service orders over the phone
  • Answer questions on menu selections and check with kitchen staff
  • Answer guest questions or concerns regarding the origin, vintage, and style of various wines
  • Place and log call back for room service order
  • Notify guests and management of delays in service delivery
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day
