Job Description

Balfour Beatty Investments is a leading global infrastructure investor with a significant presence in the UK, US, and Canada. With a rich legacy spanning over 15 years under its former name, Balfour Beatty Capital, the company has evolved into one of the largest investors in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) sector. The company has amassed an impressive portfolio of more than 60 complex infrastructure projects worldwide, primarily focused in the UK and US markets. Dedicated to delivering high-impact projects, Balfour Beatty Investments combines deep industry expertise with a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability.

As part of a global infrastructure investment group, Balfour Beatty Investments integrates safety, sustainability, and responsible business practices into every facet of its operations. The culture is deeply rooted in core values of integrity, teamwork, excellence, and respect. These principles guide the company’s approach to both internal management and external partnerships, fostering a workplace environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, and high performance.

The company takes great pride in offering its employees challenging and rewarding career opportunities across various functional areas. Employee development is a priority, with comprehensive training, mentoring, and career growth initiatives designed to enhance professional skills and support long-term success. Balfour Beatty Investments views its employees as its greatest asset, with a strong emphasis on their well-being, which contributes to a healthier and more productive workplace environment.

The role of Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is integral to the company’s success. The HRBP acts as a strategic and operational partner within an assigned region, supporting the consistent implementation of HR policies and workforce initiatives. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $130,000, reflecting the expertise required to manage a diverse, multi-state workforce.

Within this role, the HRBP is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, encouraging a positive and inclusive culture, and fostering strong relationships across all organizational levels. The HRBP coaches managers through complex employment situations, oversees employee relations and training programs, manages benefits and compliance matters, and supports workforce engagement and retention strategies. The position requires frequent travel—up to 75 percent—to various sites to engage with employees and leadership teams onsite. This hands-on approach helps the HRBP stay closely connected to operational realities while driving impactful HR initiatives.

Additional responsibilities include conducting employee investigations, managing disciplinary actions, administering ADA accommodations, and collaborating with multiple internal departments such as payroll, benefits, and talent acquisition. The HRBP must maintain meticulous records, ensure compliance audits are conducted, and lead training sessions tailored to diverse employee needs. This role also champions organizational justice and inclusion efforts, making a significant difference in creating a supportive and high-performing work environment.

Balfour Beatty Investments seeks a candidate ideally holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or a related field, with a strong preference for PHR/SPHR certification and California HR certification. The candidate should have at least five years of experience managing HR functions across multiple states and locations, covering exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employee demographics. Labor relations expertise and solid knowledge of employment laws are highly sought after. Proficiency in MS Office, excellent interpersonal skills, presentation capabilities, and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record are essential. The job requires residence in the Western United States due to the substantial travel involved.

Balfour Beatty Investments offers a comprehensive benefits package including discretionary bonuses, medical and dental insurance starting the first month after employment, health and flexible spending accounts, company-paid life insurance, a 401K plan with employer matching, generous paid time off including sick, vacation, and personal days, volunteer days, disability coverage, and parental leave. The company is dedicated to supporting its employees comprehensively in all aspects of their professional and personal lives.
