Job Description
Allegria Village is a distinguished senior living community located in Dearborn, Michigan, dedicated to providing exceptional care and quality of life to its residents. As a facility specializing in assisted living, Allegria Village offers a supportive and safe environment tailored to the unique needs of senior adults. The community is committed to promoting a respectful, dignified, and comfortable living experience, ensuring every resident enjoys the utmost respect and security. With a focus on professional care and wellness, the facility continually strives to uphold high standards in all aspects of its operations, particularly in health, safety, and environmental cleanliness, essential components in senior living environments.
The role of Housekeeping Supervisor (Working Supervisor) at Allegria Village represents a vital position within the Assisted Living community, emphasizing both leadership and hands-on involvement. Unlike traditional hotel housekeeping, this role adheres to stringent healthcare cleaning requirements, where infection control, chemical safety, and handling of bodily fluids are essentials. The supervisor will be integral to maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment compliant with healthcare regulations and infection control protocols that protect residents, staff, and visitors alike.
This full-time position requires an individual with experience in hospital, long-term care, assisted living, or similar healthcare environments where environmental services are critical. The Housekeeping Supervisor will not only oversee and support housekeeping and laundry staff but also participate actively in cleaning duties. This hands-on approach ensures the supervisor maintains a clear understanding of frontline operations and can lead by example. A traditional supervisory role is expanded here to include direct engagement with sanitizing resident rooms, restrooms, common areas, and high-touch surfaces to combat infection risks and uphold rigorous hygiene standards.
Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Housekeeping in daily operations, ensuring team adherence to infection control, sanitation standards, and compliance with OSHA, EPA, and MSDS guidelines. Attention to chemical safety and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use is paramount. The Supervisor will manage scheduling, assign duties, and monitor the quality performance of housekeeping and laundry staff, while also overseeing special projects such as deep-cleaning, move-in/move-out preparations, and carpet/upholstery care. Training staff on protocols and maintaining thorough documentation are also crucial aspects of the role.
Working in this role provides opportunities to influence the wellness of seniors living in a community environment directly. This position demands not only technical expertise but also leadership, communication, and organizational skills to create and maintain a respectful and discreet atmosphere that upholds the privacy and dignity of residents. Flexibility in scheduling and the willingness to regularly perform cleaning tasks ensures the supervisor remains deeply connected to daily operational realities.
Joining Allegria Village offers candidates a significant opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven community committed to safety and dignity. It is an outstanding career move for seasoned environmental services professionals looking to leverage their healthcare housekeeping experience into a supervisory role that impacts lives daily. The community values its staff and strives to foster a workplace culture of respect, professionalism, and ongoing development, making it a rewarding place to grow one's career in senior living housekeeping supervision.
