Job Description
The Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and Navy Lodge properties are part of the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) Hospitality Group, which provides quality lodging services to military personnel, their families, and authorized guests. These properties are well-known for their commitment to excellent customer service, maintaining clean and safe environments, and ensuring guests experience a welcoming, comfortable stay. As part of a broader network of Navy lodging facilities, these establishments cater specifically to the unique needs of the military community, offering an atmosphere that respects privacy and promotes security. The Navy Gateway Inn and Suites locations are typically situated on or near military bases and provide a range of amenities designed to accommodate service members on leave or temporary duty assignments as well as their dependents and other eligible guests.
The role of a Housekeeper at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites or Navy Lodge is integral to maintaining the high standards upheld by these establishments. This position involves a full spectrum of housekeeping services, which include cleaning guest rooms, public areas, laundry facilities, storage rooms, and exterior spaces with the utmost attention to detail and efficiency. Housekeepers utilize both manual and powered cleaning equipment to perform their duties, such as vacuum cleaners, carpet washers, polishers, and waxing machines. The role requires a proactive approach in sanitizing and deodorizing spaces to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for guests.
This employment opportunity is typically full-time and does not require prior experience, making it accessible to a diverse range of applicants. While no prior housekeeping experience is necessary, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. The physical demands of the job involve moderate physical effort, such as moving furniture and managing cleaning equipment. Housekeepers must be diligent about safety protocols concerning blood-borne pathogens and other health hazards, as they handle potentially contaminated personal care items and linens. In addition to cleaning duties, employees are expected to interact courteously with guests, manage keys responsibly, assist with breakfast service setup, and report any unusual circumstances to supervisors promptly.
This role is crucial for ensuring that the lodging facilities remain inviting, secure, and operational. Housekeepers contribute directly to guest satisfaction by maintaining cleanliness, order, and the timely completion of assigned tasks. They may also be required to perform minor repairs and report equipment maintenance needs. Certification requirements include obtaining proper food handling credentials (for those assisting with breakfast services) and possible NHG housekeeping certification within six months of employment. Some positions may require a valid state driver's license to travel between facilities.
Overall, the Housekeeper role at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and Navy Lodge offers an opportunity to serve the military community in a supportive hospitality environment. It emphasizes responsibility, attention to detail, physical endurance, and excellent guest relations skills. This position fosters a pride in the work performed, as it directly impacts the quality of stay for military members and their families, embodying the values of service and respect inherent in military hospitality operations.
