The role of the Housekeeping Assistant is vital to maintaining the sanitary and homelike atmosphere that supports our residents’ health and happiness. This position involves daily cleaning services across resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas, ensuring compliance with facility standards. The Housekeeping Assistant is a key player in infection control efforts, survey readiness, and fostering a respectful and dignified environment for residents. The job requires meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility, as the individual contributes directly to the residents’ quality of life by maintaining environments that are both safe and pleasing.
In addition to routine cleaning, the Housekeeping Assistant will perform terminal cleaning of resident rooms as needed, clean windows, walls, ceilings, floors, and furniture on scheduled rotations, and properly handle and dispose of waste, including biohazardous materials in accordance with facility protocols. Monitoring for pests and escalating concerns appropriately is another critical part of the role, as is assisting with emergency cleaning tasks and preparation for health surveys and inspections.
This position demands proficiency in using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely, coupled with strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage the daily workload efficiently. Equally important is the respect for resident dignity and privacy, ensuring that the housekeeping services contribute not just to cleanliness, but also to a supportive and respectful living environment. Physical requirements include standing and walking for most of the shift, frequent bending and lifting, and the ability to push housekeeping carts, sometimes with assistance.

Job Requirements
- Functional literacy and ability to follow instructions
- Standing and walking for most of shift
- Frequent bending and lifting (5-40 lbs)
- Ability to push housekeeping carts (up to 300 lbs with assistance)
- Exposure to odors, chemicals, and wet/humid conditions
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily per facility standards
- Perform terminal cleaning of resident rooms as needed
