Job Description

Christian Hospital, established in 1903, is a leading healthcare institution serving the St. Louis metro area and its surrounding communities. Recognized for its outstanding clinical excellence, Christian Hospital is ranked No. 5 in St. Louis and No. 9 statewide in Missouri by U.S. News & World Report. This places the hospital among the top 6 percent of all hospitals in the state. The hospital is nationally recognized as "high performing" in geriatrics and has received high performance ratings for several common procedures and conditions including heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke. Christian Hospital is known for its commitment to quality care and patient safety, reflected in the meticulous standards and protocols that govern its operations.

Christian Hospital also benefits from its proximity to Northwest HealthCare, located just six miles west, which offers a 24-hour emergency department, a Sleep Disorders Center, and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services, enhancing the continuum of care available to patients in the region.

The Housekeeping Department at Christian Hospital plays a critical role in maintaining the hospital’s reputation for cleanliness and safety. The department consists of professionally trained housekeepers who are dedicated to creating and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The department follows an 8-step cleaning process which includes high dusting, emptying trash, sanitizing surfaces, spot cleaning, cleaning bathrooms, dust mopping floors, inspecting rooms, and damp mopping floors. These detailed procedures ensure that all areas of the hospital meet stringent hygiene and safety standards.

The Housekeeper role at Christian Hospital is a part-time position, offering 24 hours per week with shifts available during days, evenings, and nights. This position offers daily pay options and is benefits eligible, making it a flexible and attractive opportunity for individuals who enjoy cleaning and interacting with patients.

In this role, the Housekeeper is responsible for providing daily housekeeping services utilizing the hospital’s established cleaning procedures. Duties include performing routine janitorial tasks in patient rooms, public areas, and common spaces. Housekeepers are tasked with discharge cleanings, preparing rooms for new admissions by changing linens, cleaning, mopping, and setting up furniture as needed. They also ensure that equipment is clean and fully functional, reporting any maintenance issues promptly to supervisors or management. This role requires a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness to support the hospital’s mission of delivering excellent patient care and safety.

Working as a Housekeeper at Christian Hospital provides the opportunity to be part of a dedicated healthcare team, directly contributing to patient comfort and overall hospital operations. It is an ideal position for those who take pride in their work and enjoy contributing to a safe, hygienic environment in a healthcare setting. The role does not require prior experience, making it accessible to individuals seeking to start a career in environmental services within healthcare. The hospital prefers candidates with a high school diploma or GED but values a strong work ethic and attention to detail above all.

If you are passionate about maintaining cleanliness and eager to support patient care through environmental services, Christian Hospital encourages you to join their team. This role not only offers competitive pay and benefits but also the chance to be part of a respected hospital with a long history of clinical excellence and community commitment.
