This opportunity is for a Per Diem third shift (night shift) housekeeping role within Thermo Fisher Scientific. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the facility, strictly following protocols as detailed in the Housekeeping Cleaning Log. The role also entails ensuring janitorial supplies are adequately stocked and reporting any building maintenance needs to supervisors. This position demands a high attention to detail, understanding and adherence to safety standards including OSHA regulations and bloodborne pathogen protocols, and the ability to work independently during the night shift. As a critical role in supporting the overall facility environment, the housekeeping associate directly impacts the efficiency, safety, and cleanliness that underpin the company’s scientific research and development efforts. This role requires some degree of personal protective equipment usage such as safety glasses, gowns, gloves, ear plugs, and lab coats. The work environment may expose the employee to potentially hazardous elements typically found in healthcare or laboratory settings, and thus safety compliance is essential. This position also demands physical ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds and sustain prolonged periods of standing or stationary posture throughout the shift. Working in the night shift requires good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure. Job Requirements

  • High or secondary school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience or relevant training in housekeeping or cleaning
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and follow instructions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently during night shifts
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to comply with PPE requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
  • Ability to perform well under pressure while managing multiple tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High or secondary school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Relevant formal academic or vocational qualification preferred
  • Previous experience providing knowledge and skills to perform the job (0 to 1 year preferred)
  • Ability to read and follow directions
  • Knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods and procedures
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to learn and follow OSHA regulations and bloodborne pathogens training

Job Duties

  • Clean all areas of the facility in accordance with the Housekeeping Cleaning Log
  • Document completion of all required cleaning tasks using a checklist
  • Collect and dispose of trash and cardboard daily
  • Oversee stock levels of janitorial supplies and communicate replenishment needs to purchasing
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the utility room
  • Perform additional housekeeping duties to support special facility projects
  • Report any building deficiencies or safety concerns to the supervisor
