This role is for a Housekeeper/Janitor, a vital position responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the community’s interior and exterior areas. The employee in this role will perform cleaning projects that require advanced training and demonstrated skill, emphasizing attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. Scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with weekends off, this full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage of $20. Employees will engage in a variety of tasks including sweeping, mopping, polishing, dusting, and handling trash disposal, as well as maintaining cleaning supplies and equipment.

In addition to routine cleaning duties, the Housekeeper/Janitor will inspect work performed in assigned properties, reporting any maintenance issues or discrepancies to supervisors promptly. The role entails both indoor tasks like restroom sanitation and outdoor duties such as property upkeep, requiring employees to navigate various environmental conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain. Safety is a top priority, with workers expected to use cleaning chemicals in compliance with OSHA regulations and operate new equipment only after proper training.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs following appropriate safety procedures
  • Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time
  • Crawl in small and tight spaces
  • Ability to work in different environmental working conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain
  • Walk and climb stairs
  • Handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Ability quickly and easily navigates the property/building as required to meet the job functions
  • Repeat various motions with the wrists, hands and fingers
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner
  • Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 3 ft)

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred
  • Previous custodial experience preferred
  • Multiple language fluency is desirable
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of cleaning/maintenance duties as assigned including sweeping, mopping, shampooing, dusting, polishing, trash disposal, replacing light bulbs, and window cleaning
  • Informs supervisor of needed supplies
  • Maintains all cleaning solutions in accordance to OSHA requirements for hazardous chemicals
  • Removes trash from premises and assists in emergency cleaning
  • Ability to properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using this equipment
  • Maintains friendly and professional attitude
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate level of sanitary and cleaning supplies for assigned areas
  • Inspects all assigned areas daily and reports all cleaning and maintenance discrepancies to supervisor
  • Ensures that security procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Ensures all safety precautions are followed while performing work
  • Completes daily work orders as scheduled
  • Maintains assigned equipment in good working condition
  • Cleans restrooms including sweeping and mopping floors, refilling dispensers, cleaning toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and counters
  • Empties and removes trash
  • Reports any discrepancies or deficiencies to supervisor
