The hiring establishment is a reputable residential community located in West Palm Beach, FL 33407. This role is specifically for a Housekeeper/Janitor who will play a vital role in sustaining the cleanliness and maintenance of the property. The Housekeeper/Janitor will be entrusted with a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks that require advanced training and demonstrated skill. The position necessitates both indoor and outdoor work, depending on the needs of the property, thus providing a dynamic work environment. The individual in this role will be responsible for inspecting work performed within assigned buildings or properties and submitting detailed reports to the Supervisor to ensure all standards are consistently met.

Key responsibilities include a wide range of cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, shampooing carpets, dusting, polishing surfaces, trash removal, replacing light bulbs, and cleaning windows. The Housekeeper/Janitor will also manage cleaning supplies in compliance with OSHA regulations for hazardous chemicals, making safety a top priority. Emergency cleaning assistance and proper equipment usage following safety procedures are integral parts of the job. Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate maintains a professional and friendly attitude when interacting within the community, reinforcing a positive environment.

Daily inspections of assigned areas to report any maintenance or cleaning discrepancies to the Supervisor are required. Security and safety procedures must be strictly adhered to at all times, along with the maintenance of cleaning equipment in excellent working condition. Additional responsibilities include restroom sanitation tasks like sweeping, mopping, refilling dispensers, cleaning toilets and sinks, removing trash, and ensuring overall hygiene standards are met.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalency, prior custodial experience, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Multilingual abilities are considered a plus, enhancing communication within the diverse community. The physical demands of the job include lifting up to 50 pounds safely, working in various weather conditions, navigating tight spaces, and the ability to climb ladders and stairs. This is a physically active role requiring endurance and the ability to respond promptly to emergencies.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred
  • Previous custodial experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs following appropriate safety procedures
  • Ability to work in an upright standing position for long periods of time
  • Ability to crawl in small and tight spaces
  • Ability to work in different environmental working conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs
  • Ability to handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property or building as required to meet job functions
  • Ability to repeat various motions with wrists, hands and fingers
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 3 ft)

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties as assigned including sweeping, mopping, shampooing, dusting, polishing, trash disposal, replacing light bulbs and window cleaning
  • Informs supervisor of needed supplies
  • Maintains all cleaning solutions in accordance to OSHA requirements for hazardous chemicals
  • Removes trash from premises and assists in emergency cleaning
  • Properly utilizes new equipment and follows safety procedures prior to using equipment
  • Maintains friendly and professional attitude
  • Inspects assigned areas daily and reports cleaning and maintenance discrepancies to supervisor
