Job Description

Southcoast Health is a not-for-profit, charitable health system dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services across Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. With multiple hospitals, clinics, and facilities, Southcoast Health is deeply rooted in the communities it serves, offering compassionate and comprehensive medical care close to home. The organization is committed to creating inclusive and ethical workplaces that empower its highly skilled caregivers to excel in their professions while maintaining a focus on patient-centered care and community well-being. Southcoast Health's dedication to fostering a supportive, diverse, and respectful culture has earned it the distinction of being voted 'Best Place to Work' for seven consecutive years.

The Housekeeper II position at Southcoast Health's St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA, represents a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall environment of the hospital. This is a per diem role with day shifts from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, including weekend and holiday rotations, ensuring all assigned rooms and areas remain orderly and sanitized to promote the health and comfort of patients, visitors, and staff. The position not only demands strong attention to detail and efficient cleaning practices but also requires good interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team under the guidance of the Team Leader, Environmental Services or their designee.

Working at Southcoast Health means more than just performing daily tasks; it means becoming part of an organization that values well-being, diversity, and professional growth. Employees benefit from competitive pay, a comprehensive benefits package, and a culture that celebrates diversity and inclusiveness. The organization invests in employee growth through customized leadership training and offers programs such as tuition assistance and federal loan forgiveness. Regular status employees scheduled to work at least 24 hours are eligible for a generous Earned Time Off package and 403B retirement plan with company matching contributions. Southcoast Health also prioritizes the health and safety of its workforce with requirements for vaccinations against seasonal Influenza and COVID-19, with exemptions considered under medical or personal reasons.

In this role, the Housekeeper II will find a rewarding career path contributing to the high standards of patient care by ensuring a clean and safe environment. This position reflects the core values of Southcoast Health, centered on community focus and care-driven service, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals who are dedicated, reliable, and eager to be part of a supportive healthcare team.
