The Housekeeper role at Sunrise Senior Living plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the community, including resident suites, public areas, and support spaces. This position is instrumental in ensuring that the environment supports the health and wellbeing of residents, their families, and team members by upholding the highest standards of housekeeping and laundry services. This job requires attention to detail, respect for residents' privacy, and adherence to safety and infection control protocols. Key responsibilities include cleaning floors, furniture, bathrooms, and common areas; managing laundry operations; and contributing to the overall safety and risk management within the community.

In addition to these hands-on duties, the Housekeeper will support the team by participating in training, contributing to team engagement programs, and proactively addressing safety and service standards. Candidates for this position should demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work semi-independently, while also maintaining effective communication and cooperation with other staff members. Knowledge of cleaning supplies, safe handling of chemicals, and proper infection control techniques is essential. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • experience in housekeeping or related field preferred
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and bending
  • ability to handle cleaning chemicals and laundry equipment safely
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • must respect resident privacy and dignity
  • willingness to undergo pre-employment screenings and health evaluations
  • covid 19 and influenza vaccination if mandated by law

Job Duties

  • Perform general housekeeping duties in resident suites, public areas, and support areas as assigned
  • sweep, dust, dust mop, and wet mop all flooring
  • spot clean and vacuum floors, rugs, carpets, and runners
  • clean, sanitize, and polish lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures
  • dust, wash, sponge mop, sanitize, and hand shampoo furniture
  • dust desk and floor lamps
  • clean and polish glass surfaces, woodwork, walls, and windowsills
  • knock on resident’s doors before entering and respect their privacy
  • knock on public restroom doors before cleaning
  • maintain equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly condition
  • transport clean and soiled linen to appropriate areas
  • collect trash and maintain trash receptacles
  • collect, clean, and redistribute community laundry
  • sort, wash, and dry linens following approved procedures
  • fold, count, and stack linens
  • inspect linens and handle damaged linens as per SOP
  • maintain commercial laundry area cleanliness
  • assist Care Managers and Department Coordinators with resident care when requested
  • respond to resident requests and feedback
  • document and learn pertinent resident information from Daily Log
  • ensure cleaning chemicals are stored and locked
  • keep equipment and cords out of way and comply with fire codes
  • promote and adhere to safety and risk management policies
  • practice safety procedures including PPE and Lockout Tagout
  • maintain equipment and supplies to prevent waste and accidents
  • comply with infection control policies
  • participate as an engaged team member
  • demonstrate Team Member Credo in interactions
  • commit to resident service principles
  • contribute to engagement programs
  • attend meetings as directed
  • maintain compliance with required training
  • perform other duties as assigned
