Job Description

American Home Care is a well-regarded organization dedicated to providing compassionate and reliable home care services to tenants and their families. The company prioritizes health and safety, ensuring a secure and respectful environment for both clients and staff. Known for its commitment to quality and community support, American Home Care fosters a work culture emphasizing teamwork, attention to detail, and respect for the wellbeing of all involved. This focus on care extends beyond simple service provision to creating a supportive environment that values communication, safety, and professionalism.

The current job openings at American Home Care include two on-call positions: Housekeeper and Cook. These roles offer flexible morning and evening shifts from Monday to Friday. The Housekeeper role, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., primarily involves breakfast and lunch assistance while maintaining cleanliness throughout various areas. The Cook position covers the evening shift from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., focusing on lunch and dinner preparation. Both positions require reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

The Housekeeper responsibilities include laundry duties, such as operating washers and dryers, maintaining the laundry room, folding and hanging articles, changing bedding, and thorough cleaning of living areas, bedrooms, kitchens, restrooms, and common spaces. The role also includes preparing coffee, assisting with breakfast and lunch, and monitoring daily events to report to a supervisor. Signing for deliveries is part of the job to ensure accurate inventory management.

The Cook position demands skills in preparing nutritious and timely meals, including lunch and dinner. Responsibilities extend to cleaning kitchen equipment and areas, stocking food supplies, organizing pantry and freezer spaces, and maintaining overall food safety standards. The Cook may also be required to distribute linen and restroom supplies and occasionally drive the company vehicle for procurement of food items. Both roles emphasize the importance of good communication and teamwork to maintain a smooth operation.

Successful candidates will need a high school diploma or GED as a minimum educational qualification, with a preference for those having at least one year of related experience, including food preparation or a culinary apprenticeship for the Cook role. Effective time management, organizational skills, good judgment, and problem-solving abilities are essential. The ability to work collaboratively in a team, attention to detail, and observation skills are critical factors for success. A valid driver’s license is considered helpful, especially for those who might need to transport supplies.

American Home Care requires all employees to pass a background check, participate in mandatory vaccination programs including COVID-19, adhere to testing requirements such as TB and COVID-19 screenings, and utilize designated personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. These measures underline the company’s commitment to a safe and healthy workplace for staff and tenants alike.

These on-call positions offer an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexible work schedules within a compassionate care environment. American Home Care provides a supportive workplace where employees’ contributions are valued, and their efforts directly impact the lives of those they serve. Prospective employees will find meaningful work with consistent support and clear expectations.
