The Housekeeper position at St. Vincent de Paul plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests and staff members. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and classified as a non-exempt, safety-sensitive position, this role demands consistent attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to excellence. The housekeeper is responsible for daily cleaning tasks across all SVdP locations, ensuring that all areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. This role directly influences the overall guest experience by creating surroundings that are sanitary and inviting.
Housekeepers at St. Vincent de Paul perform a variety of duties including dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, and sanitizing surfaces, all within the framework of safety and health guidelines. In addition to cleaning, the housekeeper supports operational efficiency by restocking cleaning supplies and promptly reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards. Interaction with guests and staff requires a courteous and professional demeanor, addressing minor concerns effectively and escalating when necessary. The role also includes compliance with company policies, active participation in a positive team environment, and supporting the Facilities Manager in duties as assigned. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods while following ergonomic and safe lifting practices.
The ideal candidate for this housekeeper role will have at least six months of housekeeping or cleaning experience, with knowledge in floor care and cleaning products, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Comfort in communication in English or Spanish and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions are important. Early completion of mandatory health and safety trainings, including bloodborne pathogen handling, hazardous communication, and ergonomics, is also required. Job Duties
