Job Description
The Colorado Convention Center, located in Denver, Colorado, stands as one of the premier venues for events, conferences, and exhibitions in the region. It is recognized for hosting large-scale events that attract thousands of visitors annually, offering spaces that range from expansive exhibition halls to meeting rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The center is dedicated to maintaining impeccable cleanliness and a welcoming environment to ensure all guests have a superior experience during their visits. As a key part of the City and County of Denver, the Convention Center emphasizes a strong commitment to quality service, community engagement, and providing excellent employment opportunities alongside a comprehensive benefits package. The facility is an integral part of Denver’s vibrant downtown area, contributing significantly to the local economy and cultural scene. It fosters a work culture that values diversity, professionalism, and teamwork, making it an excellent place for career growth and stability within the hospitality and event management industry.
The Housekeeper position within the Colorado Convention Center’s Housekeeping department plays a vital role in upholding the center’s high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This hourly, non-exempt role reports to the Housekeeping Manager and Supervisor and involves routine and manual work that ensures all facilities are maintained in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition for both tenants and visitors. The position offers a competitive base wage starting at $22.38 per hour with the potential for adjustments based on specific job assignments under the City of Denver Prevailing Wage Law. Additionally, new hires are welcomed with a $500 signing bonus after the first 30 days of service and an additional $500 bonus upon completing 90 days, which underlines the center’s commitment to employee retention and satisfaction.
Housekeepers are responsible for a variety of cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, and scrubbing floors, hallways, and stairways, as well as cleaning glass, windows, bathroom fixtures, furniture, and office equipment. The role requires attention to detail in sanitizing and sterilizing areas as necessary, replenishing restroom supplies, and managing waste disposal such as baling cardboard when required. Employees may also be called upon to follow instructions from managers or staff outside the housekeeping department, especially during large event setups or takedowns. The environment can involve exposure to dust, grime, noise, fumes, and other potentially adverse conditions, with duties sometimes performed in irregular or extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the event schedule.
This position welcomes candidates with a high school diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory, and values interpersonal and communication skills, dependability, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Basic computer skills and proficiency in standard English are also needed to comply with communication and documentation practices. The role is physically demanding, requiring frequent movement including walking, bending, kneeling, and the use of cleaning equipment that must be handled responsibly to avoid injury. The employer offers comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance from the date of hire, a 401(k) plan with discretionary matching, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, and transportation benefits including an RTD Eco Pass for full-time employees. Tuition reimbursement and employee assistance programs further support the ongoing professional and personal development of the workforce. Overall, this job offers a stable, rewarding opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute to a high-profile venue’s operations while enjoying robust employment benefits and a supportive organizational culture.
