Job Description

Halekulani is a distinguished luxury hotel located in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii, with a rich heritage spanning over 100 years. Renowned for its gracious hospitality, impeccable service, and unparalleled cuisine, Halekulani has become a symbol of elegance and cultural respect within the hospitality industry. This esteemed hotel prides itself on its core value of LEGACY, which celebrates its cultural history and the long-standing traditions of Hawaiian hospitality. Halekulani and its sister property, Halepuna Waikiki, ensure that every employee embraces and lives this legacy through what is known as the "art of service." The hotel’s dedication to excellence is reflected in its commitment to providing guests with unforgettable experiences rooted in authentic care and attention to detail. Working at Halekulani means becoming part of a team that values tradition, respect, and the continuous pursuit of hospitality mastery. The hotel not only offers a world-class destination for travelers but also fosters an inspiring and respectful workplace environment for its staff. The role of a Hosthelp at Halekulani Seafood Restaurant is an essential component of the guest service team. This position carries the responsibility of enhancing every guest's dining experience through attentive and courteous service. As a Hosthelp, the individual serves as the welcoming face of the restaurant, greeting and acknowledging guests upon arrival and departure. Beyond greeting guests, the role involves escorting guests to their tables, assisting with seating arrangements, and presenting menus and wine lists in a manner that reflects the hotel’s standards of service. Hosthelps also carry out preparatory tasks such as setting up seating charts and organizing stations to streamline the restaurant’s operations during service hours. Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the host/hostess podium and restaurant entrance areas is critical to upholding the impeccable image of Halekulani. The Hosthelp monitors buffet appearances and helps ensure the quality of food presentation, frequently coordinates with servers and bussers to meet guest needs efficiently, and addresses guest concerns to guarantee satisfaction, escalating situations to management when necessary. This position requires a strong knowledge of the restaurant’s menu, daily activities, hotel services, and the overall ambiance and operation of various hotel outlets to confidently assist guests and provide informed responses to their inquiries. The Hosthelp also plays a key role in managing VIP guests and special requests, ensuring that all guests receive a personalized and flawless dining experience. Operating with a high level of professionalism, organization, and guest-focused enthusiasm is essential. This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities but works closely with the House Without A Key Manager and Assistant Manager, contributing to the smooth operational flow of the restaurant. Physical demands include the ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods, lift trays up to 40 pounds, and move tables and chairs as needed, often within an outdoor, non-air-conditioned restaurant environment subject to varying weather conditions. Halekulani values diversity and inclusion and is an Equal Opportunity Employer that respects all individuals regardless of race, gender, age, or other protected classes.
