The House Person role at HHM Hotels is an essential position within the housekeeping department, focused on maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the hotel's public areas. This position offers a gateway to career growth, with opportunities to advance to roles such as Housekeeping Supervisor, Guest Service Agent, Executive Housekeeper, or Front Office Manager. Working as a House Person requires a keen eye for detail and a dedication to upholding the high standards of cleanliness and guest service associated with HHM Hotels.

The primary responsibilities include greeting and acknowledging guests in a courteous and friendly manner, inspecting and cleaning assigned public areas, collecting trash, vacuuming and dusting guest corridors, and handling linen transport to and from laundry facilities. The role also involves reporting maintenance issues promptly, responding to guest inquiries, and assisting as a room attendant when staffing levels demand it or during busy periods. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, aligning with HHM Hotels’ EarthView program, which promotes environmentally responsible practices within the housekeeping operations.

Safety is a top priority for HHM Hotels, and the House Person is expected to follow OSHA standards, use protective equipment, and safely handle cleaning chemicals. The work environment requires physical stamina, including standing for extended periods, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and performing various physical movements to ensure comprehensive cleaning coverage.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience required or equivalent training preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to walk, push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and reach to clean all areas
  • Willingness to work varying shifts including holidays and weekends
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices
  • Commitment to safety standards including MSDS and OSHA guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Previous housekeeping experience required or equivalent training preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet and acknowledge guests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Inspect assigned areas and perform cleaning tasks accordingly
  • Collect trash from the service landings and dispose of in outside trash dumpsters
  • Vacuum and dust guest corridors
  • Pick up bed and other linen from hotel floors and transport to the laundry collection site
  • Deliver clean linen to assigned sections
  • Report maintenance issues
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of guest areas
  • Respond to guest inquiries and assistance
  • Work as a room attendant when staffing shortages occur or during peak periods
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
