The role of Storeroom Clerk at The Millennium Hotel Knickerbocker Chicago is an essential part of the hotel’s food and beverage operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all deliveries meet hotel specifications, are received accurately, and are stored and issued correctly to maintain stock freshness and quality. The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for signing, dating, and time-stamping invoices, assisting with daily storeroom operations including the proper storage and rotation of goods, handling heavy items, and filling requisitions for authorized outlets. Additionally, this role involves monitoring cooler and freezer temperatures to prevent spoilage, tracking and reporting food waste, and conducting month-end inventories.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional service
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of appropriate stock levels and item freshness periods
  • Basic mathematical skills to track and receive deliveries
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to complete forms, read invoices, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift, carry, move, or push goods weighing up to 300 pounds using handcart or truck
  • Ability to work well on a team and independently when needed
  • Ability to lift 20-40 pounds regularly
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Notifies person responsible for ordering merchandise when shipment arrives or if shipment fails to arrive
  • Signs, dates and time stamps all invoices on the respective receiving sheet, ensuring items correctly identified
  • Assists with the daily operation of the food storeroom, properly stores and rotates all stock so that all items are fresh
  • Fills requisitions to authorized outlets so all stock will be complete at each outlet and advises supervisor of items that are low of stock
  • Assists in conducting month-end inventories
  • Monitors and documents cooler and freezer temperatures to avoid spoilage
  • Checks each item on the invoice against applicable hotel documents, weighing, counting, verifying prices and specifications to confirm accuracy of delivery
  • Tracks and reports food waste
