The role of Innkeeper/Hotel Manager at John Rutledge House Inn is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the hotel's prestigious reputation for excellence. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing several key departments including Front Desk/Concierge, Bell Staff, Guest Services, and the upkeep and maintenance of the property. The Innkeeper/Hotel Manager ensures all aspects of the guest experience meet the highest standards from arrival to departure.
Key responsibilities involve supervising the Front Desk and Concierge teams, overseeing daily arrivals, managing special guest requests, and ensuring flawless execution of service standards. The Innkeeper also handles internal communication, provides technical support for the property management system, and manages inventory including the gift shop and office supplies. Bell Staff supervision is another critical area, where the Innkeeper reviews checklists, guarantees service excellence, and prepares the gathering area for the nightly social hour enhancing guest engagement.
Beyond guest services, this role extends to property inspections, financial tasks such as bank deposits, petty cash requests, accounts receivable and payable, commission reports, attendance monitoring, payroll preparation, and monthly expenditure reporting. The scope of the role demands a detail-oriented, organized leader who can juggle multiple responsibilities while ensuring the smooth operation of the Inn.

Job Requirements
- Two years of management experience in the hotel industry
- Proficiency with computers and reservation software
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff
- Customer-oriented and friendly demeanor
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality or related field preferred
- Flexible full time availability including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Customer-oriented and friendly with a passion for providing exceptional customer service
- Two years of management experience in the hotel industry, preferably in a luxury property
- Able to work both independently and as a member of various teams while maintaining a high level of performance
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Proven ability to supervise and motivate staff
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computers, familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and general knowledge of booking and reservation software
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality or related field preferred
- Must have flexible, full time availability including weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Review all daily arrivals and ensure special requests are adhered to
- Assist with arrivals and departures as needed and review third party reservations
- Respond to inter-office email system and external communications
- Ensure all service standards are met by employees
- Provide technical support for the property management system
- Responsible for gift shop and office supply inventory
- Review daily checklist with bell staff
- Ensure all service standards are met by bell staff
- Ensure gathering area is prepared for nightly social hour
- Inspect the property and identify deficiencies
- Prepare bank deposits and review petty cash requests
- Register accounts receivable and accounts payable daily including commission reports
- Review attendance records and prepare payroll reports
- Prepare monthly expenditure reports
