Job Description
W Scottsdale is a vibrant and contemporary hotel located in Scottsdale, Arizona. As part of a globally recognized hospitality brand, W Scottsdale offers a unique blend of modern luxury, engaging guest experiences, and exceptional service. The hotel is designed for travelers seeking a lively and stylish environment, combining comfort with cutting-edge amenities. Situated conveniently at 7277 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale, Arizona, W Scottsdale serves both leisure and business guests who appreciate quality and attention to detail. The hotel is committed to maintaining the highest standards of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
The open position at W Scottsdale is for a full-time, non-management role within the Engineering and Facilities department. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the hotel's physical infrastructure to ensure guests enjoy a seamless and comfortable stay. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding promptly to guest repair requests, troubleshooting various equipment and building systems, and performing preventive maintenance on tools and machinery. This includes expertise in multiple technical areas such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and vehicles. With minimal supervision, the engineer will communicate effectively with guests and internal teams to resolve maintenance issues swiftly.
This role demands a blend of technical proficiency and customer service skills, requiring the individual to carry equipment such as tools and radios, identify and operate building shut-off valves, maintain maintenance inventory, and document daily activities thoroughly for shift handovers. The engineer will engage in mid-level troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and will also mentor junior engineers, reflecting the importance of teamwork and knowledge sharing within the department. Responsibilities extend to ensuring workplace safety by following lockout/tagout procedures and adhering to company policies. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the hotel through surface preparations, painting, and minor repairs.
Candidates are expected to have a valid driver's license, universal chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification, and meet all state and federal licensing requirements applicable to the role. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, vocational or technical training, and at least two years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience. The role requires physical capabilities such as lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, and the ability to work in varied environments.
W Scottsdale offers a dynamic work environment that values safety, professionalism, and guest-centered service. The engineering team is an essential backbone of the hotel's operations, ensuring all technical aspects of the property support the brand's promise of a high-quality guest experience. This is a unique opportunity for those who are looking to advance their career in hotel engineering while working in a renowned hospitality setting where they can develop skills, contribute meaningfully, and support a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
