Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • vocational or technical background
  • at least 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience
  • valid driver’s license
  • Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification
  • ability to safely use hand and power tools
  • ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • physical ability to move, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds
  • ability to navigate stairs, ramps, and ladders
  • compliance with company safety and security policies

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Respond to guest repair requests
  • communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues
  • perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
  • visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines
  • carry equipment such as tools and radios
  • identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and buildings
  • maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
  • communicate daily activities and issues to other shifts
  • demonstrate proficiency in categories including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems and controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management
  • safely use hand and power tools
  • repair or replace PVC copper pipe including soldering
  • troubleshoot and perform repairs on pumps, motors, plumbing, electrical equipment, and guestroom items
  • program TVs
  • perform housekeeping and engineering-related duties
  • assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair
  • replace light bulbs and A/C filters
  • clean painting or repair areas
  • use Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work
  • operate engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance and energy management
  • perform mid-level troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • train and mentor other engineers
  • perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities including readings and rounds
  • follow company safety and security policies
  • report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries
  • complete safety training and certifications
  • properly store flammable materials
  • maintain professional appearance
  • protect company assets
  • welcome and acknowledge guests
  • assist individuals with disabilities
  • adhere to quality expectations
